Taiwan's Jyong Biotech (Nasdaq: MENS) files a plan for a Texas pharmaceutical plant and U.S. operations center, targeting BPH-related LUTS treatment in the

Jyong Biotech Ltd. (Nasdaq: MENS), a Taiwan-based biotechnology company headquartered in New Taipei City, disclosed on Oct. 15, 2026 that it has submitted a facility and operations plan to local government authorities in the State of Texas.
The plan covers a potential new manufacturing facility and a U.S. operations center, which the company intends to use to support its U.S. operations and prepare for potential future commercialization of its proprietary investigational drug candidates, if approved.
The submission followed an internal evaluation that weighed government policies, market conditions, workforce recruitment and logistics. Jyong Biotech said it is preparing to begin formal communications with relevant Texas government agencies regarding applicable procedures.
The company described the United States as its highest-priority market, citing favorable drug pricing dynamics and the international recognition afforded to FDA-approved pharmaceuticals. In its view, FDA approvals for its product candidates, if obtained, could support regulatory filings in other markets, though it cautioned that approval in any other jurisdiction is not assured.
To support that strategy, Jyong Biotech expects the proposed Texas facility to have pharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities. It is also assessing whether the site could add production lines for health supplements, a decision that remains subject to further planning, regulatory requirements and available funding.
A significant portion of the announcement addressed the commercial opportunity in benign prostatic hyperplasia-related lower urinary tract symptoms, known as BPH-related LUTS. Citing a 2012 review in the Canadian Urological Association Journal, the company noted that approximately 8.7 million American men are potential candidates for treatment of BPH-related LUTS each year.
A separate 2015 review in The Canadian Journal of Urology found that approximately 12.2 million U.S. men were actively managed for BPH/LUTS as of 2015. Drawing on the breakdown of that actively managed population, Jyong Biotech identified three potential target segments. Roughly 35 percent of actively managed patients are in watchful waiting and receive no pharmacological therapy, a group the company views as its primary target population if its new drug candidate is approved. An estimated 9.1 percent have discontinued drug therapy and returned to watchful waiting, forming a potential secondary target group.
The remaining 54.8 percent take chemical medications, and the company believes its candidate, if approved, could potentially be evaluated as a combination or alternative therapy for them. "Our commercial strategy in the U.S. targets a significant patient population," said Fu-Feng Kuo, Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer of Jyong Biotech. "With nearly 35 percent of patients in watchful waiting and almost 10 percent discontinuing drug treatment, we believe our drug candidates, if approved, will address this unmet medical need."
Kuo also addressed the choice of location. "We believe establishing manufacturing capacity in the United States will support our long-term commercial plans," she said. "Texas offers a favorable business environment and potential state tax incentives, which we believe will allow us to build the infrastructure needed to support the potential commercial activities and operations of our drug candidates, if approved.
" Among the specific factors the company cited for choosing Texas were competitive land costs, a favorable corporate tax structure, state tax exemptions and manufacturing incentives.
Founded in 2002, Jyong Biotech develops plant-derived therapeutics focused primarily on urinary system diseases, with initial market focus on the U.S., the EU and Asia. Its lead botanical drug candidate is BOTRESO®, and the company is also advancing another clinical-stage botanical drug candidate along with several preclinical-stage programs. Its integrated capabilities span early-stage drug discovery and development, pharmacology, toxicology, clinical trials, regulatory affairs, manufacturing and commercialization.
